Prayer is a place of encounter with the living God.
The God who waits for us in silence is not a distant judge, but absolute love – the One who understands, forgives and restores. When a person enters into true prayer, when they allow God to touch them from within, then a change takes place: the person becomes more like God.
True prayer is not an escape from the world, but a transformation of the heart. In prayer, a person finds the strength to say to another:
“forgive me” – because they have themselves experienced God’s forgiveness,
and “thank you” – because they realise that everything they have comes from love.
Whoever truly encounters God in prayer understands the person beside them better. They do not judge, gossip, or take pleasure in the mistakes of others. In prayer, envy, jealousy and restlessness disappear – because in God, a person becomes at peace.
But prayer does not just bring peace – it gives birth to the wisdom of life. A person who is in constant communion with God learns to see the world through God’s eyes. Life’s experiences become his teachers, not his traps; he does not repeat the same mistakes, he does not judge too hastily, and he learns to recognise the truth in every relationship. Such prayer becomes a light that guides even in the most difficult moments.
Prayer makes us people of peace and wisdom. In prayer, a person does not change God – prayer changes the person. And if prayer does not change a person, then the person needs to change their way of praying.
