In the silence of the Varaždin region, in the fellowship of the brotherhood of Saint Joseph the Worker-Pontes Salutis, a new vision is taking root: a greenhouse that is not just a space for growing vegetables, but also a space for cultivating responsibility, patience, and new life.
On a surface area of over 2,500 m², we are building a large greenhouse measuring approximately 80 x 32 metres, divided into four aisles, each 8 metres wide. Equipped with modern ventilation, shading and irrigation systems, this greenhouse will provide optimal conditions for growing tomatoes, peppers and other seasonal crops – but also for the personal growth of every person who works here daily.
This concept design is not just a technical project. It is an expression of our spirit. Every plant that sprouts from the soil is a symbol of a person learning to create, grow and live anew. ‘Ora et labora – pray and work’ is not just a saying for us, but a way of life. In the greenhouse, as in prayer, we learn faithfulness, silence, order and gratitude.
The Pontes Salutis greenhouse will serve as:
a workspace for community members, especially those in the process of resocialisation,
a place for education on agriculture, sustainability and practical skills,
a spiritual sanctuary where one can connect with nature and with oneself.
But what is particularly important is that this project is not just therapeutic – it is also economically important. Our goal is that through our work, effort and responsibility, we move towards self-sufficiency. To earn a living with our own hands, for the community, for the future.
This is just the beginning – the seeds we sow today will bear fruit for us and for others. In the Pontes Salutis greenhouse, we grow more than just vegetables – we grow hope, trust, stability and peace.
